Business Development Associate

Job Description

We are looking for a people-focused, motivated team member who is interested in growing into a long-term business development role within the staffing industry. This position will focus primarily on building relationships with local businesses, generating new client opportunities, and helping grow our presence throughout the Austin area.

The position will begin as an hourly role, with the goal of transitioning into a full-time position. The first 90 days will serve as a paid training and trial period at $15/hour. During this time, you will learn our business, services, client base, and sales process while actively participating in business development efforts. At the 90-day review, if both parties agree the position is a good fit, a full-time base salary plus commission structure will be offered.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development

• Identify and connect with prospective clients throughout the local market
• Conduct outreach by phone, email, social media, and in-person visits
• Make local business visits and marketing " drops"
• Follow up consistently with prospective clients and maintain relationships
• Track leads, conversations, and follow-up activity within the sales pipeline
• Attend networking events, ribbon cuttings, chamber events, and other local business functions
• Learn client staffing needs and help identify opportunities where AtWork can provide support
• Assist with preparing proposals, follow-up communication, and other sales-related materials
• Represent AtWork professionally and confidently in the community

Recruiting & Office Support, As Needed

• Serve as a friendly and professional point of contact for applicants and visitors
• Answer incoming calls and assist with applicant check-ins
• Support recruiters with candidate sourcing, screening, and interview scheduling as needed
• Follow up with applicants and assist with onboarding and pre-employment processes
• Help maintain accurate candidate records and support general office flow

Marketing and Administrative Support

• Assist with social media, job advertising, and local marketing efforts
• Help prepare materials for client visits, networking events, and outreach campaigns
• Support general office operations as needed

Preferred

• Previous customer service, sales, recruiting, or business development experience
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Familiarity with the local business community
• Interest in staffing, recruiting, sales, or relationship-based business development

• Demonstrates strong follow-through with calls, emails, visits, and introductions
• Learns our staffing services and can confidently explain how we help businesses
• Shows initiative and looks for opportunities rather than waiting to be told what to do
• Supports the recruiting team when needed while maintaining business development as the primary focus
