Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Are you detail-oriented, organized, and looking to build a career in payroll? Our client is seeking a Payroll Coordinator to join their collaborative team supporting payroll operations for union and prevailing wage construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with administrative, accounting, bookkeeping, or payroll experience who wants hands-on exposure to a specialized and in-demand area of payroll.

You'll work closely with an experienced payroll team, gain valuable knowledge of union and certified payroll processes, and have the opportunity to grow your career within a stable and supportive organization.

What You'll Do

• Review and enter employee payroll information accurately and efficiently

• Process employee timecards and track hours worked across multiple projects

• Support payroll operations for union employees and construction projects

• Maintain payroll records, employee files, and supporting documentation

• Assist with certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage compliance

• Review payroll deductions, garnishments, and other payroll-related information

• Respond to employee payroll inquiries and provide excellent internal support

• Assist with payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting activities

• Support quarter-end and year-end payroll processes

• Work within payroll and HRIS systems such as ADP, SAP, or similar platforms

• Collaborate with the payroll team to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing

What We're Looking For

• 6+ months of payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, administrative, or data entry experience

• Experience working with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism

• Effective communication skills and a team-oriented mindset

• Experience with ADP, SAP, or other payroll systems is a plus

• Union payroll, prevailing wage, or certified payroll experience is helpful but not required

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Farmingdale, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $29.80/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
