Human Resources Specialist

The Human Resources Specialist supports the employee experience through benefits administration, leave management, employee relations support, total rewards programs, and general HR operations. This hybrid role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys working directly with employees, solving problems, and helping employees navigate important moments throughout the employment lifecycle. The position will work closely with employees, managers, HR leadership, benefits partners, and external vendors while providing HR support across multiple Company locations. Regular travel between locations is required.

Key Responsibilities

Benefits & Total Rewards

• Administer medical, dental, vision, retirement, disability, life insurance, HSA/FSA, and other employee benefit programs.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for employee benefit questions and enrollment support.
• Coordinate qualifying life events, benefit changes, and eligibility updates.
• Support annual open enrollment, including employee communications, education, enrollment tracking, and system updates.
• Work with benefit brokers, carriers, payroll, and vendors to resolve employee benefit concerns.
• Assist with benefits reconciliations, audits, and reporting.
• Support employee education regarding total rewards, compensation, benefits, recognition, and wellness programs.

FMLA & Leave Administration

• Coordinate FMLA, medical leave, parental leave, personal leave, disability leave, and other approved leaves of absence.
• Communicate leave requirements, documentation deadlines, and return-to-work expectations to employees and managers.
• Maintain accurate leave records and track certifications and employee status.
• Coordinate leave information with payroll, disability vendors, benefits providers, and managers.
• Maintain confidentiality of medical and leave-related information.
• Assist HR leadership with workplace accommodation requests and the interactive process.
• Help ensure leave programs are administered consistently and in accordance with applicable policies and regulations.

Employee Relations

• Serve as an HR resource for employees regarding workplace concerns, policies, attendance, communication, and general employment questions.
• Assist with employee relations meetings, investigations, documentation, and follow-up.
• Support managers with performance documentation, attendance concerns, and corrective action processes.
• Escalate significant or sensitive employee relations matters to HR leadership.
• Promote consistent application of Company policies and procedures.
• Help foster a respectful, supportive, and professional workplace environment.

People Operations

• Support employees throughout the employment lifecycle, including onboarding, employment changes, transfers, promotions, leaves, and separations.
• Maintain accurate employee information in the HRIS.
• Prepare HR reports, documentation, and employee communications.
• Assist with policy implementation and HR process improvements.
• Support employee engagement, recognition, wellness, and retention initiatives.
• Participate in HR projects and Company-wide initiatives.
• Develop and maintain HR checklists, trackers, and standard operating procedures.

Multi-Site Employee Support

• Travel regularly between Company locations to provide onsite HR support.
• Build strong relationships with employees and managers across locations.
• Conduct employee meetings, benefits education, HR office hours, and other onsite activities.
• Provide consistent HR visibility and support throughout the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• 2–4 years of Human Resources experience.
• Experience with benefits administration and employee leave programs strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of FMLA and general employment practices.
• Experience supporting employee relations matters preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organization and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
• Strong judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating with a broader HR team.
• Proficiency with HRIS platforms, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly between Company locations.

Preferred Qualifications

• SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar HR certification, preferred.
• Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, professional services, or a multi-location organization.
• Experience with BambooHR or a comparable HRIS.
• Experience working with benefits brokers, insurance carriers, and leave/disability vendors.
