Assistant Professor (Ladder/In-Residence) Neuropathologist Scientist University of California San Diego Position overview Position title: Neuropathologist Scientist. Salary range: $112,500 - $145,700. Appointment is tenure‑track at the Assistant Professor level. The series consists of 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In‑Residence with secured extramural funding or 100% Ladder Rank. Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a brain and related biospecimen biorepository and coordinating center for neurodegenerative research studies and appropriate reference/controls.
  • Coordinate with donor sites and studies across the U.S. and globally, organizing transport/shipping, collecting, imaging, preserving, evaluating, and distributing tissue from donors with neurologic disorders.
  • Collaborate extensively on both intramural and extramural research projects, including participation in national and international networks and consortia.
  • Develop and sustain a competitively funded extramurally funded research program leveraging biorepository resources via spatial transcriptomics/proteomics and digital pathology analyses.
  • Participate in fellowship, resident, graduate, and medical student education and teaching, as well as university service.
  • Opportunity to participate in diagnostic neuropathology clinical services.
Qualifications MD or equivalent or MD/PhD in Cell/Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, or related fields. Eligibility for a California medical license or equivalent certification. Board‑certified in Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology by the start of appointment. At least 1 year of post‑fellowship experience in clinical service and research in neurodegenerative disease involving a brain biorepository. At least 3 peer‑reviewed publications related to neurodegenerative disease research. At least 1 year of experience in brain biorepository management, spatial analytics, digital pathology, and participation in multi‑institutional collaborative projects.
