Key Qualifications

• Active Special Education certification in South Carolina (SPED).
• Experience working with students with severe disabilities, preferably in a self-contained classroom.
• Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring.
• Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional techniques to meet students’ unique needs.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families.
• Commitment to fostering a safe, structured, and supportive learning space.

Primary Responsibilities

• Deliver individualized instruction tailored to students’ IEP goals and needs.
• Design and implement lesson plans that support academic, behavioral, and functional growth.
• Modify materials and approaches for optimal access and learning.
• Track and document student progress, maintaining accurate records for IEP compliance.
• Collaborate closely with general education teachers, administrators, and ancillary service providers.
• Participate actively in IEP meetings, sharing insights and supporting ongoing plan development.
• Maintain open communication with families, updating them on student progress and needs.
• Foster a classroom environment that is respectful, nurturing, and encourages student independence.
