Qualifications & Desired Experience

• Valid South Carolina Special Education Teacher certification (SPED)
• Experience supporting students with severe disabilities preferred
• Thorough knowledge of individual education plans (IEPs) and related legal requirements
• Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt curriculum to meet unique student needs
• Strong classroom management and crisis intervention skills
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with staff, families, and outside providers
• Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to supporting student success

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver individualized, specialized instruction in a self-contained classroom
• Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to student IEPs
• Adapt teaching methods and materials for a variety of learning and functional levels
• Track, monitor, and document progress toward IEP goals
• Teach and reinforce academic, functional, behavioral, and life skills
• Create a structured, positive, and safe classroom environment
• Participate in IEP meetings, collaborating on student program development
• Maintain open and supportive communication with families and all school personnel
