Essential Qualifications

• Valid South Carolina Special Education (SPED) certification
• Experience teaching students with severe disabilities, preferably in a high school or similar setting
• Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and compliance
• Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional practices to meet individual student needs
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with families, teachers, and therapists
• Commitment to fostering a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment

Primary Responsibilities

• Deliver individualized instruction and interventions aligned with each student’s IEP
• Adapt lesson plans and curriculum materials for students with diverse learning profiles
• Track and document student progress, providing regular updates to families and school teams
• Support academic, behavioral, functional, and life-skills development within the classroom
• Collaborate with educators, related service providers, and administrators to support holistic development
• Lead group and one-on-one activities tailored to student strengths and goals
• Participate actively in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing student planning
• Maintain strong relationships with students, staff, and families to ensure consistent support
