Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (ED Holding / Float Pool)

Contract | Night Shift | 3x12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) | Onsite | Every other weekend required | Holidays required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to adult medical/surgical patients in an inpatient holding area located within the Emergency Department, supporting patients awaiting inpatient bed placement
• Manage MS/Tele patient assignments at ratios of 1:6–1:7, with potential PCU-level patients at ratios of 1:3–1:4
• Float to ED and MedSurg areas as needed within and near the facility
• Operate standard clinical equipment including cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and other monitoring systems; utilize Pyxis , Epic , and SBAR communication protocols
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments; may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
• Adhere to unit dress code (navy scrubs) and complete required pre-start online modules prior to start date

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license – NC state or Compact license required
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• MS/Tele and ED holding experience required
• Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start
• Must be able to maintain pace in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment and manage patient ratios of 1:6–1:7

Preferred Experience / Skills

• CPI certification preferred
• Experience with PCU-level patient care
• Familiarity with Epic EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
