Geographical Information System: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit) Location: District Wide Position Type: Academic Position Overview Applications are accepted for adjunct (part-time/substitute) positions at three campuses (City, Mesa, Miramar) and various education centers on a continuous basis. Qualified applicants are placed in the adjunct pool for possible assignments in fall, spring, and summer semesters. Applications are purged approximately one year from submission. Major Responsibilities Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines. Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas. Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member. Teach all scheduled classes. Maintain accurate records. Provide quality instruction, create an environment emphasizing teaching and learning and encouraging free discussion of ideas, interests and issues. Serve on committees and do outreach activities, as needed. Be available to students outside of class. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree AND two (2) years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught; OR, Associate degree AND six (6) years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught; OR, Equivalent degree and experience. Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of continuing education students and staff. Desired / Preferred Qualifications Ability to integrate geology, sustainability, and anthropology into courses. Knowledge of ArcGIS software and/or Python. Licenses / Credentials California Community College Instructor Credential in Earth Sciences (Geography, Geology, Geophysics) (valid for life). Provide Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (renewed every 4 years). Have fingerprints taken via Live Scan for clearance.
