NURSE: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor or Non-Instructor POOL (college credit) We are seeking a qualified Nurse to serve as Adjunct / Substitute Instructor in the Non-Instructor POOL for college credit. This role supports our three college campuses and continuing education centers. Position Type: Adjunct FLSA Status: Exempt (does not accrue overtime) Location: District Wide (must live within commuting distance to San Diego) Assignments: May include day, evening, weekend, and/or off-campus classes. Major Responsibilities Design, implement, and evaluate health promotion activities on campus and provide RN care to patients (first aid, vaccinations, etc.). Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines. Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas. Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member. Teach all scheduled classes. Maintain accurate records. Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests, and issues. Minimum Qualifications Master’s in Nursing OR Bachelor’s in Nursing and Master’s in Health Education or Health Science (or equivalent), or the minimum qualifications as set by the Board of Registered Nursing, whichever is higher. Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years in the nursing area to which the instructor will be assigned, which can be met by: One (1) year’s continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area; OR One (1) academic year of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area or its equivalent that demonstrates clinical competency. Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college that includes courses in nursing or in natural, behavioral or social sciences relevant to nursing practice. Valid California Registered Nurse license. Desired Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), or Practice Health Nurse (PHN) Equivalency: Requests for equivalency may be submitted via the "Request for Equivalency Form" during the application process. Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States. Additional Information Newly hired faculty members are required to submit official transcripts. All new SDCCD employees must provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment and must renew the certificate every 4 years as a condition of continuing employment.
