LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION-CE/VOC: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (non-credit) Classification Title: LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION-CE/VOC: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (non-credit) Working Title: Adjunct Faculty Location: District Wide Pay Information: Pay placement is contingent upon receipt of official transcripts and verifications of prior work experience. Instructors with advanced coursework and/or experience will be placed on the appropriate class and step on the Adjunct College Salary Schedules, effective the first month following receipt of the documents. The initial salary placement will be at the first class/step until all documentation has been submitted. FLSA Status: Exempt (does not accrue overtime) Position Type: Adjunct Bargaining Unit: AFT/Continuing Education Faculty Department: District Wide The Position: The San Diego Community College District accepts applications for adjunct (part‑time/substitute) positions at its campuses and continuing education centers on a continuous basis. Eligible candidates will be placed in an adjunct pool for potential assignments in the fall, spring, and/or summer semesters. Hiring departments use the pool when a need exists, and will contact qualified applicants directly. Responsibilities Primary duties relate to curriculum and teaching, with assignments divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines. Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas. Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member. Teach all scheduled classes. Maintain accurate records. Provide quality instruction, creating and maintaining an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages discussion. Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught; OR An Associate degree and six (6) years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught; OR Possession of a full‑time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in Building and Construction Trades; OR The equivalent. Desired Qualifications Equivalency: If the exact degrees listed are not possessed or the degree will be received prior to teaching, submit a “Request for Equivalency Form” and attach during application. Foreign degrees must be evaluated by a recognized credential evaluation service. Evaluation must be submitted with the application. Licenses/Certificates/Credentials Full‑time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in Building and Construction Trades (if possessed).
