This position is primarily remote, enabling a personalized approach to mental health counseling while maintaining flexibility. However, you will also collaborate closely with law enforcement and other local agencies, sometimes accompanying them on mental health-related incidents. The role operates within an outpatient office framework, emphasizing direct interaction with community members and partnerships with healthcare facilities.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Respond to mental health crisis situations in collaboration with local law enforcement, providing real-time assessments and interventions.

• Conduct training sessions for police and other first responders on effectively addressing mental health episodes, aimed at de-escalating potentially volatile situations and minimizing the use of force.

• Manage comprehensive case documentation, maintaining strict adherence to confidentiality and compliance with legal standards while working with third-party organizations, such as the Department of Mental Health.

• Provide detailed psychiatric evaluations in the field to determine the necessity for 5150/5585 applications for involuntary hospitalization as needed.

• Offer immediate crisis counseling to individuals experiencing non-violent mental health episodes to stabilize their condition and connect them to appropriate services.

• Facilitate transportation arrangements for clients requiring transfer to mental health facilities or homeless shelters, addressing the practical needs of individuals in distress.

• Establish and nurture effective communication lines with law enforcement, clinical support units, hospital staff, and psychiatrists to coordinate holistic care for clients.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your work will predominantly involve interactions with arrestees and community members facing mental health crises. You will address a diverse client population, including individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, and trauma-related conditions. Understanding the unique challenges this population faces and providing tailored support is essential for improving client outcomes.

Qualifications\n

• A Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field is required.

• Possession of an active Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) credential.

• Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) are required for this position.

Compensation and Benefits\n

The compensation for this full-time role ranges from $80,000 to $122,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
