Temporary Faculty Pool – Lecturer, Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies Department Job No: 556707 | Work Type: Instructional Faculty – Temporary/Lecturer | Location: Central California: Fresno Job Summary The Department of Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies offers an interdisciplinary undergraduate program that examines gender in its intersections with sexuality, race, ethnicity, class, nationality, disability, and age. The department encourages critical engagement with contemporary political debates and social justice, and empowers students to develop solutions to societal problems. Responsibilities Teach undergraduate courses in the Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies curriculum, including but not limited to: WGSS 10 – Introduction to Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies WGSS 11 – Introduction to LGBTQ+ Studies WGSS 12 – Critical Thinking WGSS 18 – Women and Ageing Teach courses in the LGBTQ2S+ Studies curriculum, such as: WGSS 165/PSYCH 165 – LGBTQ Psychology WGSS 122 – Queer Indigenous and Persons of Color Prepare, deliver, and grade lectures, office hours, assignments, quizzes, projects, and exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester, in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid). Adhere to university and system‑wide policies as described in Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2. Conditional Appointment Appointments are contingent upon budget, enrollment, and collective bargaining agreement provisions. New lecturer appointments are made on an “order of work” basis, starting with tenure‑track faculty. Applicants must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States. Compensation Salary is determined by qualifications and experience within the CSU salary schedule (Class Code 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). For lecturers with a Master’s degree, the monthly range is $5,507–$6,677 for full‑time service (15 WTUs). Pay is adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term. Anticipated Semester The temporary faculty pool is open continuously and positions are filled as needed. The pool spans two academic terms; to remain beyond that, re‑application is required. Fall 2026: August 19 – December 22, 2026 Spring 2027: January 15 – May 26, 2027 Required Qualifications Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution. Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications Commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence, evidenced by prior teaching experience and evaluations. Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate or community education level. Experience in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies or a related field.
