Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (Surgical PCU)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 4x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a surgical progressive care unit that functions as a stepdown from the General Surgical ICU, including bariatric specialty care and backup support to the trauma unit
• Perform cardiac monitoring, telemetry interpretation, dysrhythmia management, and emergency/rapid response and code team activation
• Manage IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care, including PICC lines and multi-lumen catheters
• Administer cardiac drips (no titration) including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Bumex, Lasix, Lidocaine, and Ketamine
• Provide ventilator and respiratory support for chronic trach patients, including CPAP and BiPAP management; maintain isolation precautions
• Operate and monitor unit equipment including ortho equipment, chest tubes, surgical drains, trach, and endoscopic tools; float within skillset as required

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia State RN license or active Compact RN license required at time of submission (pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a PCU, IMC, stepdown, or DOU setting
• Ventilator care experience required (chronic trach patient population)
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records required
• Ability to work at least one holiday per 13-week contract; weekend availability required (every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in bariatric or trauma stepdown care environments
• Familiarity with remote telemetry monitoring and tele-sitting workflows
• Prior travel nursing experience welcomed; first-time travelers accepted
