Lead Software Engineer - Python, Java & AWS

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with at least 5 years of applied software engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of modern architectures and patterns, including microservices, REST APIs, event-driven design, and NoSQL data stores.
• Experience building cloud-native applications and services, with working knowledge of AWS or a comparable cloud platform.
• Experience delivering at least two large, complex applications end to end, from initial development through production delivery; experience in a large financial institution or leading product engineering organization is preferred.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps toolchains, observability and monitoring practices, test-driven development, and agile delivery.
• Experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools for activities such as coding, code review, testing, and troubleshooting, and setting expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and security and resiliency expectations; ability to coach engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
• Advanced understanding of application resiliency and security principles and practices.
• Strong technical documentation skills, such as API documentation using OpenAPI or Swagger; familiarity with AI concepts and developer productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot or similar.
• Preferred: Experience designing and building highly available system architectures.
• Preferred: Ability to drive engineering process improvements and adoption of changes to culture and ways of working.

• Design, develop, and troubleshoot software solutions, applying creative approaches to technical challenges.
• Build secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others.
• Encourage responsible adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery, and operational outcomes; establish validation standards and promote effective patterns across the team.
• Use software development lifecycle tools, including authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation.
• Identify opportunities to prevent or automate remediation of recurring issues and improve application and system stability.
• Lead evaluations with external vendors, startups, and internal teams, assessing architectural designs, technical capabilities, and fit with existing systems and information architecture.
• Contribute hands-on production development, raise engineering standards through reviews and mentorship, and advance reliability, security, and operational excellence across the software lifecycle.
