Position Overview

Work Environment

This position takes place directly within a hospital environment, where you will interact regularly with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals. You will operate as part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary healthcare team, contributing to a collaborative culture that emphasizes quality care. The typical work schedule is Monday to Friday, with a standard expectation of 40 hours per week, primarily focused around a shift starting at 5:00 pm.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive physical examinations, interpret diagnostic tests, and develop individualized care plans that reflect the holistic needs of each patient.
• Order and analyze diagnostic tests, such as blood work and imaging, to assist in forming accurate diagnoses and effective treatment strategies.
• Treat a variety of health conditions within the scope of family medicine, utilizing evidence-based practices to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Prescribe medications, monitor patient responses, and make necessary adjustments to enhance treatment effectiveness.
• Maintain meticulous and organized patient records and schedules, ensuring seamless communication flow and continuity of care.
• Deliver patient education on disease management, preventive care, and healthy lifestyle choices to empower individuals and families.
• Manage patient care across diverse settings, including inpatient and perioperative environments, consistent with established protocols.
• Engage in continuous learning and professional development to remain current with the latest advancements in medical practices.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will cater to a diverse patient population ranging from children to elderly individuals, providing comprehensive care tailored to specific health needs. Your focus will include chronic disease management, preventive health measures, and patient education to drive better health outcomes within the community.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited institution.
• Current certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Valid state licensure as a Physician Assistant in New York.
• At least two years of experience as a Physician Assistant in a family health clinic, hospital, or similar healthcare setting.
• Profound understanding of health and patient care regulations alongside competency in clinical practices.
• Exceptional communication skills essential for fostering patient engagement and effective interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Strong ethical framework with a commitment to providing patient-centered care.
• Collaborative team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to adapt to dynamic patient needs.
• DEA number required to prescribe medications.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in primary care settings, particularly with chronic disease management and preventive health.
• Advanced knowledge in specific areas such as urgent care, geriatrics, or pediatrics may be an advantage.
• Previous work with electronic health records (EHR) systems for effective patient data management.

Compensation and Benefits

The acceptable salary range for this Physician Assistant role is between USD 140,000 to 160,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
