Full-Time Nurse Practitioner (NP) for School-Based Healthcare

Key Responsibilities

• Develop individualized treatment plans grounded in evidence-based practices, following established clinical guidelines to address patients’ diverse healthcare needs.
• Conduct thorough assessments to diagnose and manage both acute and chronic health conditions such as infections, injuries, and chronic illnesses.
• Prescribe and manage medications judiciously, taking into account drug efficacy, safety, patient history, and cost-effectiveness.
• Advise patients on lifestyle modifications and health risk behaviors, tailoring interventions that effectively engage them in their health journey.
• Educate patients and their families about self-management strategies for chronic conditions, ensuring instructions are relevant to their specific situations.
• Evaluate medical or psychological conditions among students and staff, providing necessary interventions or referrals as indicated.
• Utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR) proficiently to document care, track patient progress, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests such as complete blood counts (CBC), electrocardiograms (EKG), and radiographs, ensuring timely follow-up on results.
• Analyze clinical information to formulate appropriate diagnoses and treatment pathways, closely monitoring patient outcomes.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of your work will be with children and adolescents in the school setting, encompassing a diverse range of health backgrounds and needs. Your role will be crucial in addressing both immediate health concerns as well as establishing ongoing relationships with patients to monitor their development and health status over time.

Qualifications

• A valid New York State license and current registration as a Registered Professional Nurse from the New York State Department of Education (NYSED).
• Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner issued by NYSED.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous education and improvement in your practice through relevant certifications and training.
• A valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA), held or acquired during orientation.

Preferred Experience

Previous experience in a school setting or with pediatric patients is highly desirable, as is familiarity with school-based health initiatives and community health resources. Experience in using EHR systems and understanding collaborative care models will provide an excellent foundation for success in this role.

Compensation and Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary range of USD 150,000 to 160,000 annually, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package.
