Work Environment

The Nurse Practitioner will work onsite at a designated school, allowing for direct interaction with students, educators, and staff. This environment is dynamic and fast-paced, providing daily opportunities to impact students’ lives through direct care, health education, and early intervention strategies. Working closely with educators and school administration, you will help create a culture of health and wellness within the school.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including physical examinations and developmental screenings, to monitor health status and identify potential health issues in students.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans that address both acute and chronic health conditions, continuously evaluating their effectiveness and making adjustments as necessary.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team—comprising school nurses, counselors, educators, and external healthcare providers—to ensure a holistic approach to health care delivery.
• Provide health education to students, families, and staff on various topics, including chronic disease management, nutrition, mental health, and preventive care.
• Document patient interactions meticulously in compliance with health regulations and school policies, ensuring accurate medical records are maintained.
• Advocate for student health resources and services within the school system, aiming to eliminate barriers to healthcare access.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This position is centered around school-aged children and adolescents who often face unique health challenges and barriers. The Nurse Practitioner will provide culturally competent care and health education tailored to the diverse needs of the student population. You will engage with students from various backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses, advocating for health equity and supporting vulnerable communities within the school.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner with an active state nursing license.
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience, with a preference for candidates who have worked in school health, community health, or public health settings.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Passion for promoting social justice, health equity, and advocating for the well-being of marginalized populations.

Preferred Experience

While a minimum of 3 years of experience is required, candidates with additional expertise in child and adolescent psychology, mental health, or public health initiatives will be viewed favorably. Experience utilizing electronic health records (EHR) and familiarity with school health regulations are also advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of $150,000 to $160,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
