Job Type: Contract (3–6 months with potential for contract-to-hire) Location: Costa Mesa, CA (Onsite) Compensation: This job is expected to pay about $33.00–$35.00/hour W2 What You’ll Do: Process high-volume, biweekly multi-state payrolls while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. Audit payroll transactions including earnings, taxes, deductions, garnishments, bonuses, retroactive pay, and final pay. Perform payroll reconciliations, support quarter-end and year-end activities, and assist with payroll audits and reporting. Partner with HR, Accounting, Operations, IT, and Legal to resolve complex payroll issues and support payroll system enhancements. Analyze payroll trends, improve processes, develop reporting, and identify opportunities to automate manual tasks. What Gets You the Job: 5+ years of progressive payroll experience processing large, multi-state payrolls in a high-volume environment. Experience supporting enterprise payroll systems such as Dayforce (preferred), ADP, UKG, or similar. Strong knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations, including advanced California payroll law. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and payroll reconciliation experience. Experience supporting organizations with large hourly employee populations, preferably in restaurant, retail, or other multi-location environments. CPP certification is a plus.
