This role is predominantly remote, with the option for in-person interactions at our outpatient office as needed. Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct individual and group therapy sessions, primarily in clients' homes or at our outpatient facility, focusing on tailored support to meet each child’s unique needs.

• Implement therapeutic techniques to assist children in developing anger management, coping skills, and effective social interactions while addressing high-risk behaviors, such as self-injurious behavior and physical aggression.
\n
• Facilitate improved decision-making skills for youth and their caregivers, equipping them to manage behavioral challenges within the home environment.

• Collaborate consistently with the Child Family Treatment Team and other professionals, ensuring a cohesive approach to support the needs of the family unit.

• Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of therapy sessions, including intake assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes, submitted within designated time frames.

• Participate in monthly team meetings, contributing valuable insights and recommendations based on clinical observations and outcomes.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Our therapeutic services primarily focus on children aged 3-20, particularly those experiencing developmental disabilities and intellectual challenges. The role requires sensitivity and a personalized approach to therapy that recognizes the distinct needs of each child and their family's circumstances. As a therapist, you will play a vital part in guiding this diverse client population toward healthier behaviors and emotional resilience.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, or a related field is mandatory.

• An active and unrestricted Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license is required to practice in New York.

• Availability for a minimum of 5-10 hours per week during peak after-school hours (4-7 pm), with added flexibility on weekends being advantageous.

• Proficiency in both English and either Spanish or Portuguese is essential for effective communication with our diverse clientele.

Preferred Experience\n

• Experience in providing positive behavior support is highly preferred.

• Previous work with children aged 3-20 and specifically those with intellectual developmental disabilities (I/DD) is a significant asset.

• A valid driver's license and access to a registered vehicle for travel are required.

• Successful completion of a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, is mandatory prior to employment.
