Schedule: 3x12 night shifts, weekdays and some weekends with rotating holidays

Highlights:

• 30-bed Surgical Progressive Care Unit specializing in lower acuity cardiac, vascular, and cardiac surgery patients
• Patient ratio of 1:3 on nights
• Epic electronic medical record system
• Patient population includes CABG, valve repair/replacement, TAVR, vascular stents/grafts, AAA, post-lung transplant, and other cardiac/vascular surgical procedures
• 36 hours of orientation provided
• Interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and physical therapy

Requirements:

• Active RN license (compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience required
• Cardiac experience strongly preferred
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Proficiency in IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Skills required include: cardiac telemetry, blood product administration, central line management, arterial line management, heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, cardiac drip management, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, wound vac, PCA, and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• 2 professional references required (at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership role)
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)

Position Details:

• Float required within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
• Care for adult and geriatric patient populations
• Manage patients with secondary diagnoses including GI bleed, renal failure, airway disease exacerbation, diabetes, pneumonia, sepsis, and heart failure
• Work with specialized equipment including arterial lines, telemetry, chest tubes, sheaths, PCAs, epidurals, wound vacs, and JP drains
• Patients may arrive from OR, PACU, ED, or direct admission

Important Compliance Information:

• Strict compliance deadline of Tuesday prior to start date – no exceptions
• Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed immediately upon contract signing
• Candidates must be responsive and cooperative with credentialing to avoid delays or cancellation
• Out-of-state candidates within driving distance must travel to Ohio for fingerprinting as soon as possible after booking
• Former employees eligible after 6 months separation from the facility
• Pre-approved time off must be requested with submission
