Details Work in a high-risk, high-volume Labor and Delivery unit with 4 ORs, 31 rooms, and 31 beds Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients Average daily census of 15 patients per day with 500-600 deliveries per month Patient ratio of 1:1 to 1:2 Night shift, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed Float required to Postpartum and Antepartum units, including sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care Uses Epic EMR and electronic fetal monitoring equipment Requirements Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration Minimum of 3-5 years of Labor and Delivery experience required in a high acuity, high-paced environment High-risk L&D experience required Required certifications: BLS and NRP Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate Epic EMR experience required Must be able to function as Baby Nurse during delivery and provide continued newborn care until transfer to postpartum Must be able to circulate for deliveries Must be skilled in newborn care including eye and Vitamin K injections, thigh injections, and newborn assessments Experience with medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate required Two current supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required Current Nursys verification required for consideration Additional Information Responsibilities include labor and delivery management, assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and recovering C-section patients Skilled in fetal monitoring including recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns Provides postpartum care including couplet care, hemorrhage management, and care for patients with pregnancy-induced hypertension Supports breastfeeding and lactation, episiotomy and incisional care, and fundus/lochia/perineum care Administers pain management including epidural anesthesia and manages medication therapies such as anticoagulation, antihypertensives, and Pitocin Provides neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring, cord sample collection, ID/security banding, and neonatal resuscitation First-time travelers are welcome to apply Local candidates accepted at the standard bill rate Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for the travel rate Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility Candidates must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility as a permanent employee, traveler, or per-diem staff, including location and dates Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day All requested time off must be submitted upfront during the application process, as post-offer requests may not be granted Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location American Traveler Job ID P-736157.
