Anthropology Department Special Sessions Lecturer Pool - SJSU Online Job no: 553081 Work type: Instructional Faculty - Temporary/Lecturer Location: San José The SJSU Anthropology Department is dedicated to excellence in teaching and learning within our field and for our students. Through scholarly work and direct participation in research programs, students explore the diverse nature of human experiences across cultures worldwide. Responsibilities Teach assigned courses and conduct weekly office hours based on the assigned teaching unit load. Participate in ongoing assessment of student learning to continuously improve teaching and learning experiences. Work collaboratively with colleagues on public health curriculum-related processes such as teaching multi-section courses to ensure quality, rigor, relevance, and consistency of curricula. Attend team meetings and training sessions as required. Organize classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a diverse student population through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement. Offer and meet all classes as scheduled throughout the entire term in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (asynchronous, synchronous, bi‑chronous, in‑person, or hybrid). Required Qualifications An M.A. or Ph.D. degree in a field relevant to the curriculum or in a related discipline. Knowledge of the subject matter of the discipline to which the individual is assigned. Ability to teach and evaluate adult learners. Evidence of satisfactory achievement in previous academic work. Awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population gained through cross‑cultural study, training, teaching or other comparable experience. Preferred Qualifications Ability to effectively design, teach, and assess undergraduate and graduate courses in‑person, online, and hybrid formats.
