Position Overview

Harmony Care Psychiatry is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our team in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments to accurately diagnose mental health disorders in patients.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to the specific needs of each patient, using evidence-based practices.
• Prescribe, adjust, and manage psychotropic medications while closely monitoring their effectiveness and any side effects.
• Provide psychotherapy and counseling services utilizing various therapeutic models, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
• Foster collaborative relationships with other mental health professionals for coordinated patient care and holistic treatment approaches.
• Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment alternatives, and effective self-care strategies.
• Regularly monitor and document patient progress, including medication responses and therapy outcomes.
• Conduct follow-up appointments to assess treatment efficacy and address any evolving patient concerns.
• Participate actively in interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences to enhance professional development and improve overall patient care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, your primary focus will be on a diverse population of children and adolescents attending local schools in Elizabeth, NJ. You will work to address a range of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and behavioral disorders. Your ability to connect with young patients, understand their unique challenges, and provide tailored interventions will be crucial in promoting their mental health and academic success.

Qualifications

• A valid Nurse Practitioner license in the state of New Jersey.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, with a specialization in psychiatric mental health preferred.
• Relevant experience in psychiatric nursing or clinical mental health settings.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience working with pediatric and adolescent populations.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and related clinical documentation practices.
• Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is highly desirable.

Compensation and Benefits
