Work Environment

This full-time position is based onsite at our Plano surgical center, providing a hands-on approach to patient care within a collaborative, team-oriented environment. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday during regular business hours, although flexibility may be required to accommodate evening or weekend shifts based on patient needs. As a Physician Assistant, you will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth medical evaluations and pain assessments to identify the root causes of patients’ pain while considering their physical, psychological, and social contexts.
• Craft individualized treatment plans that may incorporate medical, pharmacological, interventional, and complementary approaches to pain management.
• Monitor and adjust treatment plans based on patient responses, focusing on pain reduction, functional improvement, and quality of life enhancement.
• Provide acute pain management following injuries, surgeries, or medical procedures, employing best practices to minimize patient discomfort and encourage healing.
• Prescribe and manage pain-relief medications, carefully balancing efficacy with potential risks and patient preferences, while closely observing for side effects.
• Perform interventional procedures such as nerve blocks and epidural injections to alleviate pain, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Engage in patient education concerning self-care strategies, pain management techniques, and lifestyle modifications, empowering them to take an active role in their wellness.
• Maintain meticulous electronic health records (EHR) that accurately reflect patient assessments, treatments, medical histories, and future recommendations.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work with a diverse patient population, including individuals with chronic pain conditions, acute pain following surgical procedures or injuries, and patients requiring complex medication management. Understanding the unique needs of each patient and delivering tailored care will be essential for achieving optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution, with a focus on health sciences.
• Valid and active state medical license in good standing.
• Completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience in pain management practices.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a strong commitment to patient-centered care.
• Proficiency in utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and patient management.

Preferred Experience

• Board certification in Pain Medicine or a related specialty is preferred.
• Prior experience in a clinical setting focusing on pain management is highly advantageous.
• Fellowship training in Pain Management or similar specialty would be beneficial.

Compensation and Benefits
