This contract position focuses on one-on-one instruction, delivering vital in-person services to a student twice a month in the Minneapolis area. Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Thorough understanding of best practices for educating students with blindness or visual impairments
• Experience adapting general education materials to accessible formats (Braille, large print, or assistive technology)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with school staff and families
• Ability to assess individual student needs and develop tailored instructional strategies
• Current knowledge of relevant state/federal guidelines and individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Previous experience as a TVI in a K-12 setting preferred

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide in-person, individualized instruction to a student with visual impairment: two 30-minute sessions each month
• Implement strategies and interventions to support the student's learning and functional vision skills
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to adapt materials and facilitate inclusion
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to progress reviews and goal-setting
• Maintain accurate records of services provided and progress
• Serve as a resource for staff and family regarding the student's unique needs and recommended accommodations
• Promote self-advocacy and independence for the learner
