Senior Lead Software Engineer - Payments/Java

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with 5+ years of applied experience.
• Development experience with Java, Spring or Spring Boot, and microservices.
• Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Experience leading the effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools, including setting expectations for validating AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, resiliency, and security; experience coaching senior engineers or leads on compliant practices and controls.
• Experience leading and managing software engineering teams, supporting individual development and team performance.
• Proficiency in automation, continuous delivery, and all phases of the software development life cycle.
• Advanced understanding of agile methods, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• Knowledge of financial services and its IT systems.
• Experience in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field, with expertise in technology disciplines.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems and system integration.
• Proven experience providing end-user support and strong problem-solving ability.
• Preferred: Practical cloud-native experience.
• Preferred: Practical experience with Cockroach and Cassandra.
• Preferred: Experience with reactive programming.

• Design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions, using unconventional approaches where needed to address technical challenges.
• Build secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others.
• Spend 50% of the time developing code or conducting code reviews.
• Promote and govern approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes; establish measurable validation standards and encourage reuse of proven patterns and automation across the SDLC/TLM toolchain.
• Apply software development life-cycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation at scale.
• Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams, assessing architectural designs, technical capabilities, and fit with existing systems and information architecture.
• Guide software engineers on day-to-day work and set expectations for team results, practices, and collaboration.
• Manage stakeholder relationships and team deliverables in line with compliance standards, service-level agreements, and business needs.
