Accounting Assistant (Construction Industry)
Location: Cranbury, NJ
Employment Type: Full-Time (Temp / Temp-to-Perm / Direct Hire)
Schedule: Monday - Friday | Standard Business Hours
Compensation: $25-$30/hour (depending on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant with experience in the construction or a related industry to support a busy accounting team in Cranbury, NJ. This role offers a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, project-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processing
• Enter invoices and job cost data into the accounting system
• Support project accounting, including tracking job costs and budgets
• Maintain and organize financial records and documentation
• Assist with billing, including progress billing and lien waivers (if applicable)
• Reconcile accounts and assist with month-end close activities
• Coordinate with project managers and vendors regarding financial data
• Perform general administrative and data entry tasks as needed

Qualifications

• 1-3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
• Prior experience in construction, engineering, HVAC, or similar industry strongly preferred
• Familiarity with job costing and project-based accounting is a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (basic formulas required)
• Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
