Director of Software Engineering - Core Global WAN

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We require formal training or certification in software engineering, infrastructure engineering, network engineering, or a related technical field, along with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• We need extensive experience designing, engineering, or operating large-scale global wide area networks, telecommunications backbones, cloud networks, or similarly complex environments.
• We expect deep technical expertise in Multiprotocol Label Switching, segment routing, Border Gateway Protocol, traffic engineering, routing policy, network resiliency, and capacity planning.
• We need demonstrated ability to lead both architecture-level design and hands-on execution for large network transformation or migration programs.
• We look for advanced knowledge of network automation and software-defined infrastructure, including practical programming experience with Python, Go, or a similar language.
• We require experience building engineering solutions using APIs, infrastructure as code, continuous integration and delivery practices, configuration management, and automated testing.
• We need proven ability to develop automated pre-change and post-change validation, telemetry, monitoring, or anomaly-detection capabilities.
• We expect experience making high-impact technical decisions across architecture, engineering, certification, deployment, and production operations.
• We require demonstrated use of enterprise-authorized artificial intelligence capabilities within technical workflows, including validation of generated outputs and careful handling of sensitive data.
• We need the ability to establish review, approval, and escalation standards for automation and AI-assisted recommendations.
• We look for proven influence across organizational boundaries and delivery of complex, enterprise-wide initiatives.

• We lead the architecture, engineering, and execution of a multiyear transformation from multiple wide area networks into a unified global network platform.
• We define the technical strategy for carrier-scale routing, segment routing, traffic engineering, path optimization, capacity management, and network resiliency.
• We translate complex network architecture into executable engineering plans covering design, certification, migration, implementation, and production rollout.
• We design and deliver software-defined capabilities that automate network configuration, route validation, change execution, monitoring, and operational workflows.
• We develop pre-change and post-change validation frameworks to identify configuration issues, routing anomalies, and resiliency risks.
• We apply enterprise-authorized artificial intelligence capabilities to support anomaly detection, predictive analysis, engineering reviews, and operational decisions with appropriate human validation and sensitive-data controls.
• We establish engineering standards and portfolio-level guardrails for automation and AI-assisted workflows, ensuring traceability, auditability, security, and resiliency.
• We improve global network stability through telemetry, disciplined incident and problem management, repeat-issue remediation, and measurable reliability gains.
• We partner with software engineering, infrastructure, cloud, security, architecture, operations, and control teams to align priorities and manage technical trade-offs.
• We provide technical leadership on strategic initiatives and influence engineering standards, platform roadmaps, and long-term investment decisions.
• We serve as a trusted technical advisor to senior stakeholders and communicate complex architecture, delivery risks, and engineering decisions clearly.
