Senior Director of Software Engineering - Global Payroll

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with at least 10 years of applied experience and at least 5 years leading technologists through complex technical challenges.
• Deep experience delivering payroll technology platforms and integrations—not payroll operations—in a large, highly regulated global enterprise supporting U.S. and multi-country payroll.
• Strong platform and integration expertise with Oracle HCM Payroll and Time, including implementation and upgrade enablement, interfaces, production stability, and controls.
• Experience supporting payroll ecosystems using ADP GlobalView and/or ADP Celergo, including integration governance and managed-vendor partnerships.
• Proven ability to operate mission-critical, deadline-driven platforms with rigorous controls, including audit readiness, change control, segregation of duties, access management, resiliency, and incident and problem management.
• Experience developing or leading large or cross-functional technology teams and influencing across complex, matrixed organizations to deliver value at scale.
• Experience leading complex projects involving system design, testing, operational stability, and upstream and downstream HR, Finance, and data dependencies.
• Executive-level communication skills, including presenting to senior leaders and driving decisions across competing priorities.
• Practical experience with cloud and SaaS integration architecture.
• Experience leading multi-organization adoption of agentic AI-enabled engineering models using enterprise-authorized tools, including governance, human-in-the-loop decision-making, quality gates, measurement, and secure handling of sensitive inputs and outputs.
• Deep understanding of responsible AI risk, controls, resiliency, and security at scale, with the ability to advise senior leaders on safe adoption, portfolio governance, and reuse-first strategies.
• Preferred: Experience working at code level.
• Preferred: Experience modernizing enterprise integrations using API-led and event-driven patterns, secure file transfer modernization, interface test automation, observability, and monitoring.
• Preferred: Experience applying approved AI-assisted engineering tools, such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code, to accelerate delivery while maintaining strong controls and SDLC discipline.
• Preferred: Experience partnering with Operations teams on technology enablement, including clear RACI, operational readiness, SLAs/SLOs, and issue management.

• Lead technology and process implementations across departments to advance firmwide objectives, with a focus on global payroll and time platforms and integrations.
• Own technology strategy, engineering delivery, and lifecycle management for Oracle HCM Payroll and Time, including configuration enablement, upgrades, environment management, and integration architecture.
• Lead technology enablement and integration patterns for ADP GlobalView and ADP Celergo, supporting reliable, controlled, observable data flows for global payroll processing.
• Manage multiple technology areas and ensure platforms and integrations meet high standards for availability, accuracy, security, auditability, and operational stability.
• Maintain interface integrity and master-data quality across upstream and downstream HR, Finance, Tax, and Treasury dependencies.
• Set direction for teams across platforms, divisions, and lines of business, including engineering, product, platform, and production support; partner with Payroll Operations and regional stakeholders to turn operational needs into prioritized roadmaps and delivery plans.
• Embed compliance in platform and integration capabilities, supporting SOX financial controls, country-specific statutory and tax reporting, data residency and retention, segregation of duties, and access management.
• Balance disciplined business-as-usual delivery—including SDLC, automated testing, monitoring, observability, incident and problem management, and peak-cycle readiness—with innovation to optimize processes, automate controls, improve data quality, and modernize global integrations.
• Lead vendor and partner governance, including ADP, covering delivery performance, roadmap alignment, and managed-service outcomes.
• Develop and scale a multi-department strategy for agentic AI-enabled engineering and SDLC/TLM automation using enterprise-authorized tools, advancing speed, scalability, reliability, and cost-to-serve.
• Establish portfolio-level standards for AI-orchestrated delivery workflows, release governance, automated test modernization, resilience engineering, and faster incident response, with guardrails for validation, security, resiliency, traceability, and reuse.
• Apply knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to promote cross-domain reuse and measurable capacity gains.
