Registered Nurse - PreOp

Job Description

Job Summary:

The PreOp Registered Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive preoperative care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. The role involves assessing patient readiness, coordinating care plans, and ensuring optimal patient preparation in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' medical histories, physical status, and readiness for surgery.
• Educate patients and families about preoperative procedures, expectations, and post-operative care.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure proper patient preparation and documentation.
• Monitor and evaluate patient vitals and status prior to anesthesia administration.
• Recognize and respond to signs of cardiac or respiratory distress or other emergencies.
• Document and communicate assessment findings, interventions, and patient responses accurately.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active RN license in the state of practice.
• Possess an Associate Degree in Nursing (A.S.) or higher; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Complete a basic cardiac arrhythmia class with a passing score.
• Have at least 6 months of recent medical-surgical nursing experience.
• Maintain current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS as per hospital policy.
