About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1-2 years preferred License: Pending License accepted Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Will need to pass Relias EKG exam Description: RN position in a Medical Surgical unit. Start date is approximately 3-4 weeks after compliance requirements are met. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:4-5 across all shifts. Experience is preferred but first-time travelers are accepted. Every other weekend coverage is required. No on-call shifts are needed for this position. Certifications in ACLS and BLS are required. CPI certification is preferred. The clinician will float within the service line to meet facility needs. A block schedule accommodation is not available. Local candidates within a 75-mile radius are not accepted. A maximum of 7 days of requested time off per 13-week contract is allowed. Patients may have diverse diagnoses including infections, renal conditions, cardiac issues, pulmonary conditions, oncology, orthopedic, bariatric, pre-transplant, psychology, long stays, and COVID-19. The unit sees a high turnover of patients, with stays often short due to bed availability. The nurse will manage various types of patients, requiring additional training and the ability to adapt. Equipment utilized includes Alaris pumps, CPAPs, BIPAPs, bladder scanners, lifts, hover mats, EKGs, and scales. Travelers must comply with healthcare protocols and complete required training modules. Skills needed include managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP, blood product administration, central lines, feeding tube care, telemetry, and wound care. All nurses will receive training for the diverse needs of patients in this unit.
