Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations and assessments for incarcerated individuals, identifying their specific psychological needs and creating appropriate treatment plans.

• Provide immediate crisis intervention and follow-up care to address acute mental health issues as they arise within the correctional facility.

• Facilitate group therapy sessions focusing on coping skills, emotional regulation, and rehabilitation strategies in mental health observation units.

• Collaborate closely with the Department of Corrections and other institutional programs to ensure seamless access to care and the optimal disposition of patients based on their individual needs.

• Lead case conferences and participate in treatment planning discussions to facilitate an integrated approach to the patients’ mental health care.

• Document all assessments, treatment plans, and therapeutic interventions in accordance with agency standards and regulatory requirements.

• Engage in clinical supervision and peer consultation sessions to foster professional development and enhance therapeutic skills.

• Optionally supervise social work interns or student volunteers to aid in their educational and practical training experiences.

• Regularly participate in mental health and medical rounds to provide holistic care and address any concurrent health issues affecting mental wellness.

• Complete any additional duties as required by supervisory staff to enhance overall patient care.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The primary focus of this position is to provide mental health care to individuals within the correctional system facing a range of behavioral health challenges. This includes those dealing with severe mental illness, substance use disorders, and other significant psychological issues. Our counselors are tasked with creating a supportive therapeutic environment that fosters engagement and promotes recovery and rehabilitation.

Qualifications\n

• A valid state-issued license as an LICSW, LMHC, or LMFT is required.

• A Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution is a prerequisite.

• Minimum of five years of full-time, paid professional experience in a behavioral health setting, with at least two years directly involving patient client care.

Ideal candidates will possess advanced familiarity with conducting assessments and treatments for individuals experiencing severe behavioral problems and mental health disorders. Experience in inpatient settings or correctional facilities will be highly advantageous, as it equips candidates with unique insights into the complexities of working with this population. This Senior Licensed Mental Health Counselor role offers a competitive salary range of USD 115,000 to 130,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
