Acting Assistant Professor in Phonology and Syntax Position Overview Title: Acting Assistant Professor in Phonology and Syntax Anticipated start date: September 16, 2026. Full‑time (100% FTE) for a nine‑month academic year, renewable beginning September 16, 2026. Base salary range: $7,700 to $8,250 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications or per prevailing wage determination. The successful candidate will teach phonology and syntax courses at undergraduate and/or graduate level, complement the department’s strengths, join the linguistics community, and contribute to the teaching and diversity mission of the university. Department serves 147 undergraduate majors, 55 ASL & Linguistics minors, 135 graduate students, and many non‑majors. Position Description The Department of Linguistics at the University of Washington invites applications for an Acting Assistant Professor position in Phonology and Syntax. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. Responsibilities Teach phonology and syntax courses at undergraduate and/or graduate level. Contribute to departmental curriculum development and diversity mission. Engage in research, service, and community participation as expected of faculty. Qualifications Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Linguistics or equivalent by the start date (September 16, 2026).
