Hiring: Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) Consultant

Location: San José, CA (Remote/Hybrid with on-site meetings as required)
Duration: Contract Consulting Services

The City of San José – San José Clean Energy (SJCE) is seeking an experienced Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) Consultant to provide strategic, technical, and operational support for its customer engagement and digital marketing platform. The consultant will help optimize Salesforce Marketing Cloud to deliver effective, compliant, and data-driven customer communications for over 350,000 residential and commercial energy customers.

Key Responsibilities:

✔ Develop and implement Salesforce Marketing Cloud strategies aligned with customer engagement objectives.
✔ Configure, customize, and maintain SFMC modules, including Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Contact Builder, Email Studio, Mobile Studio, and CloudPages.
✔ Design, build, test, and deploy customer communication campaigns across email, SMS, and digital channels.
✔ Develop and optimize customer journeys, segmentation strategies, and personalization to improve engagement.
✔ Perform data integration, audience management, and marketing automation using Salesforce Marketing Cloud best practices.
✔ Monitor campaign performance and prepare reports with actionable insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
✔ Ensure compliance with CAN-SPAM, CCPA, GDPR, accessibility standards, and other applicable marketing communication regulations.
✔ Provide technical support, troubleshooting, documentation, knowledge transfer, and user training for City staff.

Required Experience:

✅ Hands-on experience implementing and administering Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) solutions.
✅ Strong expertise with Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Contact Builder, Email Studio, Mobile Studio, CloudPages, and SQL for Marketing Cloud.
✅ Experience developing customer engagement, digital marketing, and lifecycle communication campaigns.
✅ Knowledge of Salesforce CRM integration, API integrations, data management, and marketing automation best practices.
✅ Experience creating campaign analytics, dashboards, performance reporting, and optimization strategies.
✅ Strong understanding of email deliverability, customer segmentation, personalization, and regulatory compliance (CAN-SPAM, CCPA, GDPR).
✅ Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, and project management skills.
✅ Salesforce Marketing Cloud certifications and experience supporting public sector, municipal, utility, or government organizations are highly preferred.
