Work Environment

This role is hospital-based and on-site, allowing for comprehensive patient care and teamwork with physicians and nursing staff. As part of a supportive community, you will work Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM in a warm and inclusive atmosphere, where collaboration and communication are prioritized. With a patient volume of approximately two patients per hour, you can provide thorough and focused attention to each individual.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct initial patient evaluations within 24 hours of physician referral to develop individualized treatment strategies.
• Create, execute, and modify treatment plans based on patient progress and physician directives, ensuring that patients receive the most effective and personalized care.
• Administer physical therapy treatments as outlined in the patient's plan, including exercise therapy, manual therapy, and rehabilitation techniques.
• Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants in all aspects related to patient care, providing mentorship and ensuring compliance with the state practice act.
• Engage in regular communication with healthcare team members to update them on patient status and collaborate on treatment strategies.
• Document all patient evaluations, treatment notes, and progress regularly as per regulatory standards and organizational policies.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings such as Rehabilitation Conferences and Utilization Review to discuss patient care plans and improve service delivery.
• Educate patients and their families on therapy techniques, at-home exercises, and maintenance programs to facilitate successful outcomes post-discharge.
• Involve in recommending appropriate durable medical equipment to enhance patient mobility and independence, ensuring all necessary tools are in place for recovery.
• Maintain equipment and report malfunctions promptly to uphold safety and efficiency standards.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily work with orthopedic patients, including those recovering from surgeries, injuries, and chronic conditions affecting movement and functionality. You will utilize a tailored approach to cater to diverse patient needs, from young athletes to older adults, ensuring each individual receives high-quality, personalized care.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program is required.
• Current Florida State Licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• Strong communication skills essential for effective interaction with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Ability to manage diverse tasks in a fast-paced environment, ensuring patient care remains the top priority.

Preferred Experience

• At least 2 years of experience in outpatient orthopedic settings, emphasizing manual therapy and sports rehabilitation.
• Previous experience in conducting in-service training for staff would be advantageous.
• A passion for improving patient care through innovative and evidence-based practice.

Compensation and Benefits
