Work Environment

The Physician Assistant will work onsite in a fast-paced hospital emergency department setting. Our team operates under a collaborative model, ensuring seamless coordination with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers. The role requires dedication to patient care, resilience in high-pressure situations, and the ability to deliver critical care efficiently. You will typically work a Monday to Friday schedule with a shift starting at 5:00 PM, contributing 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

As a Physician Assistant in our emergency department, your responsibilities will include:

• Responding to trauma alerts and swiftly assessing patient conditions upon arrival.
• Stabilizing injured patients and managing acute medical situations to prevent deterioration of their health.
• Participating in resuscitation efforts and performing life-saving interventions as needed.
• Coordinating interprofessional care for trauma patients with various medical staff members.
• Conducting thorough physical examinations and interpreting diagnostic tests to formulate treatment plans.
• Administering medications and treatments as per physician protocols.
• Assisting in minor surgical procedures and managing any resulting wound care.
• Providing education and support to patients and their families regarding trauma care procedures and recovery processes.
• Facilitating the transfer of trauma patients to appropriate units or specialized care facilities.
• Continuously monitoring and managing patients' pain levels and overall comfort.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure ongoing and effective care.
• Adhering to strict infection control protocols and safety measures within the trauma care setting.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on critically injured patients and those suffering from acute illnesses. You will address the diverse needs of our patient population, which includes adults and, occasionally, pediatric cases. Your role will be vital in not only stabilizing their conditions but also educating families on care processes, which enhances their overall healthcare experience at First Choice Primary Care.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must possess:

• A Bachelor’s degree in a related field, complemented by successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant.
• Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency medicine or trauma care is highly preferred.
• Strong clinical skills and the ability to perform trauma assessments effectively.

Compensation and Benefits
