Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse – Acute Leukemia and Hematology – Ohio

Start Date: November 2, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts or night shifts available. Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on departmental needs. Weekend coverage variable based on unit needs. 72-hour orientation provided.

Highlights:

• Specialized 24-bed acute leukemia and hematology unit caring for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients
• Goal staffing ratio of 1:4 (may be 1:5 based on census)
• Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory services, physical therapy, and rapid response teams
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with high volume of blood product administration, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management
• Daily census of approximately 22 patients with emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient safety
• May float to other Medical-Surgical Oncology units; oncology experience preferred but not required

Requirements:

• Current, valid RN license (Compact or Ohio state license)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with at least 1 year of PCU/Stepdown experience (experience must be current within the last 12 months)
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications (current and valid)
• NIHSS certification required
• Proficiency in Epic charting system required
• Competency in telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, and peripheral line care
• Skills in feeding tube care and management, and use of rapid response teams
• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccination not required
• ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required for this position
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role

Additional Information:

Compliance deadline is strict (Tuesday prior to start date). Ohio fingerprinting must be completed immediately upon contract signing. Candidates should be prepared to travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location if within driving distance, or will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet for urgent completion. One pre-approved time off period is available and must be requested at time of submission. Former employees eligible after 6 months away from facility; current employees ineligible for travel positions.
