Key Responsibilities

In your role as an Orthopedic Physical Therapist, you will have the following key responsibilities:

• Direct physical therapy treatment focusing on preventing disability, relieving pain, and restoring muscle function in alignment with individualized treatment plans.
• Supervise and support physical therapy assistants to ensure effective implementation of care protocols.
• Conduct comprehensive evaluations using diagnostic assessments to determine the client's functional levels and progress.
• Assess the home environment for rehabilitation needs and make appropriate recommendations to enhance client independence.
• Administer a range of therapeutic techniques, including manual exercises, traction, and massage, and educate clients on effective non-manual exercises.
• Evaluate, fit, and adjust any prosthetic and orthotic devices, making modifications as necessary.
• Actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to develop, review, and adjust care plans based on client progress and needs.
• Document clinical findings, treatment sessions, and client progress accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Provide guidance to clients and their families regarding home exercise programs and the use of supportive equipment.
• Ensure compliance with state laws regarding the supervision of physical therapy assistants.
