About the Position

Job Title

Registered Nurse – PCU/Medical-Surgical Float (IMC/Stepdown)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 4x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Float between PCU and Medical-Surgical units as staffing needs are re-evaluated every four hours, with potential to float up to two to three times per shift
• Provide stepdown-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and titrating cardiac drips
• Manage central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support including nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, and chest tubes
• Administer IV therapy, perform phlebotomy, and manage blood product administration, PCA and heparin protocols, and IV insulin
• Respond to emergencies as part of Rapid Response and Code teams
• Fulfill weekend and holiday requirements, including up to six weekend shifts per six-week scheduling block and at least one holiday per 13-week contract

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia State RN license or active Compact RN license (pending license considered only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
• Minimum one year of experience in a PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown-level care setting
• Must be comfortable working all PCU and Medical-Surgical units
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be considered (local candidates are generally not accepted; limited exceptions may apply for one 13-week assignment with no extension eligibility)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Cardiovascular experience including pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care
• Experience managing endocrine and metabolic conditions
• Background in telemetry nursing
