About the Position

Job Title

Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown (Surgical PCU)

Contract | Night Shift | 4x12-Hour Shifts | 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a surgical progressive care/stepdown unit that functions as a stepdown from the General Surgical ICU, including bariatric specialty and backup support to the trauma unit
• Monitor and manage cardiac rhythms via remote telemetry, respond to dysrhythmias, and activate Rapid Response and Code teams as needed
• Administer IV medications including cardiac drips (no titration required), manage blood product administration, and maintain central and peripheral line care
• Provide ventilator care for chronic trach patients and deliver respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen, CPAP, and BiPAP
• Operate and manage unit equipment including ortho equipment, chest tubes, surgical drains, trach, PICC lines, and surgical drain systems
• Document all patient care accurately using EPIC; float within skillset to other units as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia State RN license or active Compact RN license required (pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records required
• Demonstrated experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response
• Ventilator care experience for chronic trach patients required
• Experience working in a PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown unit setting with isolation precautions and telemetry

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with bariatric or trauma patient populations
• Familiarity with IV drip management including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Lidocaine, and Ketamine
• Prior travel nursing experience in a surgical or progressive care environment
