Staff Accountant

Description Staff Accountant Reports To: Controller / Finance Leadership Location: Hybrid / In-Person Position Summary Phase 1 Equity is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to support the organization’s financial operations and accounting functions. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close processes, preparing reconciliations, analyzing financial activity, and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The Staff Accountant will work closely with finance leadership and cross-functional teams to support accurate reporting, operational scalability, and financial integrity across the organization. Requirements Key Responsibilities Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete general ledger postings. Review and verify transactions for proper classification and coding within the general ledger. Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations. Prepare and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and investigate variances. Review income statement activity and support variance analysis and financial reporting. Prepare monthly roll-forward schedules and supporting documentation for accrual tracking and account analysis. Research and resolve accounting discrepancies, transactional issues, and intercompany variances. Support maintenance of accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP and company policies. Partner with internal departments to resolve questions related to financial activity and reporting. Assist with audit preparation, reporting requests, and documentation gathering as needed. Support process improvement initiatives and help standardize accounting procedures across the organization. Maintain confidentiality of financial and organizational information. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered. 3-5 years of accounting experience preferred. Knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting principles. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/financial systems. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments. Preferred Experience Experience within healthcare, dental, DSO/MSO, or multi-site organizations. Experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting systems. Experience supporting high-growth organizations or multi-entity environments.
