About the PICU Mission Hospital’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is the only one in Western NC and provides 24/7 critical care for children from newborn to 18 years old. Over 2,500 children receive care annually. Job Summary Providing leadership to facilitate the delivery of professional nursing care to pediatric patients in the PICU. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation while supervising and documenting care and teaching for patients and families. Implements medically prescribed interventions. This position is eligible for a sign‑on bonus. Responsibilities Lead and coordinate nursing care for children with critical illnesses from newborn to 18 years. Apply assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation nursing process. Delegate, supervise, and document nursing care and education for patients and family. Implement medically prescribed interventions. Qualifications Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or enrollment in a BSN program with completion within 5 years of hire. RNs with 10+ years experience are exempt. Preferred Education: Master’s degree in Nursing. License/Certifications: Current licensed RN with NC Board of Nursing; eNLC license acceptable. Basic Life Support, PALS, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and BLS Healthcare Provider certificates. Experience: Prior PICU experience of 1–2 years.
