Start Date: October 26, 2026
Location: Central Virginia
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Days; 36 or 48 hours per week; 13-week assignment; every other weekend and every other holiday required; block scheduling cannot be accommodated

Highlights:

• Float pool position rotating among various pediatric units including PICU, NICU, Pediatric Medical-Surgical, Pediatric PACU, Pediatric ED boarders, and Postpartum/Mother Baby
• Epic EMR system used throughout all units
• 60 hours of comprehensive orientation provided
• Clinical review with auto-offer process for qualified candidates
• Maximum 40 hours time off available during assignment (not available during first 2 weeks)
• Interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams

Requirements:

• Active Virginia RN license (may submit with license pending; must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• NICU experience required; must be comfortable floating to all pediatric units
• Epic EMR experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS required
• Dr. Brown's Infant-Driven Feeding Certification required (may submit with pending; cost approximately $185)
• Pediatric PACU experience highly preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• BSN preferred
• Must adhere to facility float policy and be willing to float within scope of practice as needed

Unit Information:

• PICU: 22-bed unit with 1:2 patient ratios caring for cardiac and medical illnesses, trauma, transplantation, and surgical patients
• NICU: 54-bed unit with ICU and intermediate care sections; 1:2 or 1:3 patient ratios; regional transfer center offering advanced therapies including ECMO
• Acute Pediatrics: 40-bed unit with 1:4-5 patient ratios; includes intermediate stepdown beds and epilepsy monitoring area
• Pediatric Emergency Department: Dedicated 24/7 facility for patients ages 0-21 years; variable ratios dependent on patient acuity
• May occasionally be required to float to Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby units during staffing crises
