Work Environment

This position is primarily remote, allowing for flexibility while still necessitating occasional on-site visits to local schools in the Miami area. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of students’ psychosocial needs, collaborating closely with educators and families to identify specific barriers to learning and personal development.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans that align with students’ emotional, behavioral, and academic goals.
• Provide direct counseling and emotional support to students, facilitating therapeutic interventions that support mental health needs.
• Engage with families to provide guidance and resources that promote better understanding and support of their child’s mental health and educational challenges.
• Facilitate group therapy sessions that foster peer support among students dealing with similar issues.
• Advocate for students’ rights and needs within the school system to ensure they have access to necessary services and educational resources.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of counseling sessions, progress notes, and student interactions, ensuring compliance with ethical standards and regulations.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings with school staff, mental health professionals, and medical personnel to coordinate care and support for students.
• Educate school staff about mental health awareness, promoting stigma reduction and open dialogues around emotional well-being.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This position primarily focuses on elementary and middle school students facing emotional, behavioral, and social challenges. Typical scenarios may include assisting students dealing with anxiety, depression, family issues, bullying, or developmental disabilities. A strong focus on community engagement ensures that the mental health needs of the students are met with cultural competency and sensitivity.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid licensure as a Master Social Worker (LMSW) in Florida.
• A minimum of two years of experience in a mental health setting, preferably working with children and adolescents in schools or community organizations.
• Solid understanding of school systems, developmental psychology, and the specific challenges faced by youth today.
• Proven skills in assessment, conflict resolution, and counseling.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to foster trust among students and families.
• Technically proficient with electronic health record (EHR) systems and relevant computer applications.

Preferred Experience

• Experience addressing mental health issues in a school-based setting.
• Knowledge of local community resources and programs to assist students and families.
• Experience in crisis intervention and crisis management.

Compensation and Benefits
