Business Development Advisor

If so, ACEnet is seeking a Business Development Advisor to provide one‑on‑one coaching, financial and business planning support, and guidance to small businesses across our region. If you have experience in finance, business planning, or small business development, and want to help entrepreneurs turn their ideas into thriving businesses, this could be the perfect opportunity. This role focuses on empowering minority‑, women‑, veteran‑, and socially and economically disadvantaged entrepreneurs by helping them access resources, certifications, and growth opportunities. Job Summary & Responsibilities This is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Athens, OH. Provide one‑on‑one business counseling and technical assistance to clients, supporting the development and growth of their businesses. This includes helping clients create financial management plans, prepare balance sheets and pro forma projections, conduct market research, and develop business plans that address operational, regulatory, and compliance needs. Serve as a Business Advisor for the Minority Business Assistance Center (MBAC), providing specialized support to minority‑, women‑, veteran‑, and socially and economically disadvantaged business enterprises, including guidance on certification, procurement readiness, and access to government and private‑sector contracting opportunities. Collaborate with internal teams and partner organizations, participate in working groups and meetings, and support grant‑related processes through recruitment, application support, data collection, and evaluation. Contribute to the organization’s mission of strengthening economic growth by empowering entrepreneurs and offers opportunities for future management development. Plan, coordinate, and deliver workshops, webinars, and training sessions. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong business planning and new business development skills, including experience guiding startups and growing enterprises. Candidates should possess solid analytical skills and finance knowledge to interpret financial statements, assess feasibility, and support data‑informed decision‑making. Candidates should possess clear and professional communication skills, including the ability to work with diverse entrepreneurs and present complex information in accessible ways. Ability to build relationships, collaborate with partner organizations, and maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
