Work Environment\n

This role operates in a hybrid work environment, allowing flexibility with remote therapy sessions and periodic in-person meetings in our outpatient office located in San Diego, California. Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct individual and group therapy sessions, either in-home or in our outpatient facility, tailored to the specific needs of children and their families.

• Implement therapeutic interventions that focus on anger management, coping strategies, and social skills enhancement while reducing high-risk behaviors such as self-injurious behavior (SIB) and physical aggression.
\n
• Empower caretakers by enhancing their decision-making skills, equipping them to effectively manage behavioral challenges at home.
\n
• Collaborate with the Child Family Treatment Team and other interdisciplinary professionals to ensure cohesive support for youth and their families.
\n
• Document all interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately, adhering to required timelines.
\n
• Participate in monthly team meetings, contributing insights and recommendations for service improvement.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The focus of this role centers around children and adolescents aged 3-20 who are experiencing developmental disabilities or intellectual challenges. You will work closely with families from diverse backgrounds, often necessitating a bilingual approach in Spanish or Portuguese. Your expertise will create a safe space for these families to develop strategies that improve their overall wellbeing and community integration.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s degree in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field is required.

• An active and unrestricted LMFT license is a must.
\n
• Availability for a minimum of 5-10 hours a week, particularly during after-school hours (4-7 PM), with weekend flexibility being an advantage.

Preferred Experience\n

• Experience providing positive behavior support is highly desirable.

• Prior work with children, particularly those with intellectual or developmental disabilities, is preferred.

• A valid driver’s license and access to a registered vehicle for in-home therapy sessions are necessary.

• All candidates must pass a criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
