Unity Care Counseling, LLC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to join our team in Horseheads, New York, in a full-time capacity. This position will allow you to work remotely from the comfort of your own home while engaging intimately with the pediatric population. As an LMHC, you will play a pivotal role in implementing evidence-based therapeutic interventions aimed at enhancing the mental health and emotional well-being of children and adolescents.

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments to evaluate the psychological and emotional needs of children and adolescents.

• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that reflect the developmental stages of young clients, with a keen focus on their family dynamics and environmental factors.

• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Play Therapy, to address diverse mental health challenges effectively.

• Facilitate family therapy sessions, empowering parents and caregivers to nurture and sustain a supportive home environment for their children.
\n
• Work collaboratively with child psychiatrists and other mental health professionals, ensuring a cohesive approach to therapy and care.
\n
• Provide crisis intervention and immediate support during mental health emergencies for children and adolescents, employing de-escalation skills and therapeutic techniques.
\n
• Educate clients and their families regarding mental health conditions, treatment options, and available community resources, fostering greater understanding and engagement in the treatment process.

• Maintain thorough, confidential records in compliance with applicable legal and ethical standards, ensuring quality documentation of care.
\n
• Engage in ongoing professional development activities, including participation in team meetings and case consultations, keeping abreast of the latest research and advancements in child and adolescent mental health.

You will primarily work with children and adolescents facing a broad spectrum of mental health challenges, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, ADHD, and behavioral disorders. Your empathetic approach will help build trust with this sensitive demographic, allowing you to make a meaningful impact on their mental health journeys.

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure as an LMHC in New York State is required.
\n
• A minimum of three years of post-licensure clinical experience is preferred.

• Strong background and knowledge of child and adolescent mental health disorders, as well as evidence-based treatment modalities.
\n
• Prior experience in delivering individual and family therapy effectively to young patients is essential.
\n
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, marked by a compassionate, child-centered approach.
\n
• Proficient in building rapport with children, adolescents, and their families to facilitate therapeutic progress.

• Experience in a school-based mental health setting is highly valued, as some of our services are integrated within school environments.

• Familiarity with electronic health records systems and teletherapy platforms to provide effective remote care.
