Lead Analytics Engineer - Databricks Specialist

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Degree or certification in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field, and 7–8+ years of experience in data or analytics engineering or BI within a regulated environment.
• Independent, hands-on proficiency in ETL and pipeline design, development, testing, and operations; advanced SQL writing, optimization, and troubleshooting; production-grade Python and PySpark; Databricks Lakehouse architecture, including pipelines, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog; and Tableau and/or Sigma.
• Strong experience with schema design and modeling for integrated datasets, plus practical knowledge of data mesh concepts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with senior audiences.
• Comfort working in controlled environments with change management, access controls, Git, Jules, and ServiceNow.
• Demonstrated customer-focused delivery, including negotiating requirements, enabling adoption, and building self-service or citizen-developer platforms.
• Experience designing semantic layers or governed BI models, ideally using Databricks SQL.
• Experience implementing an enterprise Databricks strategy, including its operating model, governance, user onboarding and enablement, and scalable adoption patterns.
• Preferred: experience with a secondary platform such as Snowflake, Redshift, Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL; hands-on Alteryx and/or Prophecy; AWS, especially supporting Databricks; experience supporting Risk, Compliance, Finance, or Audit; or experience shaping platform strategy, setting standards, or leading an analytics engineering center of excellence.

• Architect and implement end-to-end Databricks pipelines using Delta Live Tables, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog to support governance, lineage, and access controls.
• Build ingestion and integration pipelines in Python and PySpark, bringing J.P. Morgan data products into the Lakehouse and using Alteryx or Prophecy as feeder tools where appropriate.
• Create a governed self-service layer in Databricks SQL, including curated semantic models, intuitive views, and controlled data access for business teams.
• Partner with data product owners and data architects to ensure data is cataloged, lineage is tracked, ownership is clear, and entitlements are managed.
• Advise on cloud analytics strategies, including onboarding Databricks users and citizen developers and defining enablement approaches, entitlements, technical requirements, and governance.
• Communicate with senior, non-technical stakeholders and translate data into actionable narratives and decisions.
• Deliver executive-ready dashboards and self-service analytics in Tableau and/or Sigma using data served through Databricks.
• Use AI tools such as GitHub Copilot to accelerate development while retaining technical ownership and validating AI-generated code and documentation.
