Work Environment

This position is based in a hospital setting, providing a supportive and collaborative environment that encourages teamwork and communication. Our full-time schedule runs Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, allowing you to maintain a healthy work-life balance while serving an important function in patient care. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough evaluations of patients presenting with chronic pain, utilizing advanced diagnostic skills to identify the underlying causes of pain.
• Develop and implement individualized pain management plans, including medication management, lifestyle adjustments, and referrals to interventional procedures when appropriate.
• Prescribe medications in alignment with specific therapeutic goals, while clearly explaining treatment options to patients and their families.
• Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and interpret findings, as well as analyze laboratory and imaging studies to inform clinical decision-making.
• Collaborate with supervising physicians and other healthcare team members to discuss patient progress, challenges, and alternative treatment strategies.
• Educate patients on pain management techniques, self-care strategies, and lifestyle modifications to enhance their overall well-being.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting care plans, progress notes, and interactions with patients as mandated by hospital protocols.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily serve an adult population suffering from chronic pain conditions, such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, and post-surgical pain. This role demands empathy and patience as you navigate the complexities of chronic pain syndromes, ensuring that each patient feels heard and supported. You will also engage with patients from diverse backgrounds, emphasizing cultural competence in treatment approaches.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
• State licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
• A minimum of three years of clinical experience in pain management or a related field is preferred.
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members.
• Strong organizational skills, coupled with a commitment to patient-centered care in a collaborative healthcare environment.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with interdisciplinary approaches to pain management, including familiarity with physical therapy, psychiatry, and pain intervention techniques.
• Knowledge of the latest developments in pain management pharmacotherapy.
• Previous work with electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring efficient patient documentation and care coordination.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this full-time Physician Assistant position ranges from $150,000 to $180,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
